The Blob (1958)

Summary: A meteorite crashes in a small American town and unleashes a globular menace upon the town. Luckily some kinds were out on make-out point and were able to warn the town before everyone got gooed!
Review: I loved the special effects which included models and animation. Also great example of American ingenuity when you don't know how to dispose of something, you just dump it somewhere and hope it goes away. (Spoiler Alert) Then the movie foreshadows how it should be okay to leave the Blob in Antarctica as long as the ice doesn't melt. Global warming will never happen... So is this the end of the movie or 2020?? Only time will tell!
Rating: 3.8 Globular Menaces
I like how steve mcqueen looks about 40 years old but is playing an 18 year old.
ReplyDeleteAlso was funny that at the beginning these kids he speeds by seem like rivals and then in the end they were just friends. or maybe that was the moral of the story. Kids always seem like delinquents, but they are just kids.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I was thinking about that. You have a good and bad cop. You have good and bad father. You also apply your own bias at the begining when he is up on make out mountain to "star gaze". It will be interesting to compare that story with the remake.
ReplyDeleteIt has a catchy, theme song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK5jyVCdXwc

Yeah Carla liked it. We are going to compare it to the remake. Curious to see if has the same concept or not.
DeleteThe remake is not bad at all! I think it lives up to the almost mythical terrifying reputation that this original movie had on people that hadn't seen it.
