Summary: Weird movie that mixes the story of Faust, Phantom of the Opera, LSD, and stereotypes gallore. Oh and music.
Review: If I had to pick between Rocky Horror Picture Show and Phantom of the Paradise, then Rocky Horror Picture Show will always when. I actually liked the last half of the movie, where you get more of the Faust references and see the Phantom as an obsessed man who plays the Nice Guy trope before it became popular with the interwebs.
Kudos to the person that came up with his disfigurement being the record press. Nice reminder that the movie is referencing the musical. Also sounded like one of the songs had a hybrid rock and Loyd Webber tune mixed together. Might have imagined it though given I haven't listen to The Phantom of the Opera in forever.

Haha I have to admit I have not watched this yet myself. I love this artwork that you chose for it though.
ReplyDeleteI got to see A performance of Phantom of the Opera last year; it was sooo cheesy but super fun. I loved it. Now I kind of want to see this one even though your rating is abysmal!
I do like the Phantom's look and I'm bias to Rocky Horror Picture Show. Should check it out and let me know what you think.
